The lil stud had a very productive week. He had a field trip last week and went to the pumpkin patch. he said he had a great time however I wish I had gone with him. He had the tinniest pumpkin I have ever seen! In the past he came home with larger pumpkins because the daycare staff made sure of it! He was pleased I guess because he picked it out himself. He is still enjoying school and I enjoy watching him grow into this unknown little character who is a part of both me and his father.
He had 2 party invites this weekend but for the 1st time in a long time I declined. I had a really tough work week and I have just been drained so I wanted to just relax and I did just that. I made a promise when I was pregnant that I wouldn't bring my problems home to my children and that no matter what life is throwing my way the happiness of my son depends on the happiness of the parents!

Yo Gabba Gabba
On Friday 10/15/10 I took the lil stud to see the Yo Gabba Gabba show which came to my city. I'm not sure who enjoyed the show the most, the parents or the children. I must say that we had a wonderful time. I wish I had gotten the tickets earlier because we had really bad seats however It wont happen again. Any other time super mom would have been on it before the tickets even went on sale but I let this one get away from me and well we didn't have floor seats!
When the show was over the lil stud said mom thank you so much for taking me to the show, I love you mom. I was very pleased b/c I try to teach him that to say thank you any time I do something for him. I try to tell him there are some kids who never get to eat at Mc Donald's or go to entertainment shows. So to know he is paying attention and learning what I teach him is very rewarding to me.

Parent Teacher Conference day
Today was my 1st parent teacher conference. I drop/pickup the lil stud once a week from school, so I pretty much know his progress. I still wanted the experience plus the class with the highest turnout gets an ice cream party. I am pleased with what i was told today. The lil stud knows all of his alphabet and he recognizes all 26 letters. The teacher expressed how so many kids memorize the song but can't point out the letters. the lil stud actually can sound them out. I explained to his teacher he watches Nick jr formally Noggin, he learns at daycare and he has the preschool prep 7 disc dvd set. The dvd set includes numbers, shapes, letters, colors and sight words. The lil stud is able to count to 30, he knows all of his basic colors. The teacher is impressed at how well he can write his name. She also informed me that I have a talker which I was somewhat expecting her to say that. I was a talker in school but i didn't do my work, the lil stud is doing his work and finishing ahead of the class. So I will work on this with him at home. He also is unable to open his milk carton but i mean who has cartons of milk at home? Kids drink out of cups or juice boxes at home so i wasn't too surprised but I was however a lil shocked that was worth reporting! i learned my application for reduced lunch was declined. Very irritating. I do not agree with the $2.00 lunch and $1.25 breakfast prices for a 4yr old considering reduced prices are drastically lower, $.40 lunch and $.30 breakfast! I feel if that's the case it all should be like $1.00. I feel cheated b/c if the household receives food stamps or any govt assistance the child automatically qualifies for free lunch! But whatever.
Since the lil stud has been doing well in school I have a surprise for him tomorrow evening. We will be attending the Yo Gabba Gabba party in my city tour! he has no clue where he is going he only knows that he will be going somewhere. i wish I had better seats but he will be pleased with just being there. I'll post pics if i get some and an update of the show.

A few sit-ups!
I was having a simple conversation with the little stud the other day and in the middle of me talking to him, he just all of a sudden dropped and started doing sit-ups. Yes the 4yr old little stud was trying to exercise. I had to stop and take a second look, then I started laughing b/c it was the funniest thing I had seen all weekend. I asked him if he learned that at school but he said "no mom I'm the Karate kid". What could i say! he didn't get very far, he was only able to complete 2 before he got tired and moved on!
He has learned how to spell his entire name now, first, middle and last. He now knows his date of birth and he even knows the password to clock himself in and out at daycare when he is going to and from school. I am impressed! Now if we can just get him to stop acting like a baby in the mornings we'd be good to go. i got an irritating note from the teacher today, telling me the little stud's breakfast account is low and he was short by a few cents. She wrote the price of breakfast and lunch on the note. I didn't get nasty but I replied and informed her I have been following the October menu where the prices and dropped for both lunch and breakfast therefore its not my mistake.
I can't wait to see what tomorrow brings!

This is the little stud at the State fair 2010. I did not attend but I was told he came down the slide several times! I know that he had a great time so I'm happy.

The 1st day of Pre-K
9/7/2010 was the 1st day of Pre-K for the lil Stud. I didn't have any problems with him crying or anything which was a huge blessing for me and made my day a little easier! It truly takes a special talent to deal with other people's children for several hours a day. A few of the kids were crying and 1 parent was even made to leave because she wasn't helping the situation. I patiently waited to see how my child would react and I can honestly say he is my child! My parents always remind me of how sassy my mouth was when I was young child and I guess its only natural my son would have a smart mouth as well. Well after about 10 minutes of me watching him, he turned to me and said "Mom this school is for little kids go to your own school!" The funny thing is the 1st week of kindergarten my parents say I also did something similar by telling my mother I didn't want her picking me up at my classroom anymore because I wasn't a baby!!!!! I guess as parents we some how mark our children, amazing! I'm prepared for the journey that the school days bring us. Its almost been a month and he has already learned the months of the year song, the days of the week and how to walk in a single file line. He comes home and practices his letters, which he already did because that's what they taught him in daycare. He knows how to write and spell his 1st and last name. We are working on the middle name currently. He is trying to learn how to read which is really cute to watch. I'm off to put together outfits for the week.

| Once in the classroom he decided he'd play with the computer! I still didn't cry! |

| This is the 3rd day of school and he seems excited to go, but trust me he is the clingy kid we see on tv when I drop him off at the daycare! |
Breakfast money
So I thought I'd see if the little Stud could handle a simple taks today. I usually put his breakfast/lunch money in a zip lock bag and his teacher gets it out of his backpack. Well I put the money in his pocket today. I said it a least 10 times, make sure you give your teacher the money so you can eat breakfast. Well I picked him up this evening and I asked did you remember to give your teacher the money this morning? He said Yes mom. So a few hours later I decide to check his pocket and what do I pull out, the money still folded the same way that I folded it! So I ask him, whats this and his response was Oh I found that. LOL. Its amazing how he has learned how to twist the truth at such a young age.

Introduction of The little Stud
Welcome to the life and times of my 4 year old son, Dakarion. I have decided to start blogging about my son because I would like to keep a record of the life we share and the times we share. Raising him is not just about teaching him how to respect himself and others but raising him is also a learning experience for me as well. We spend alot of time talking, well he does most of the talking and I do alot of listening, but I also try to answer his questions the best I can and make sure he understands the answer that I have given. I have enjoyed the 4 years we have had together. This month we started a new chapter in our lives, Pre-k. So far it is going well. The only transition problem that we have is the fact he has spent the last 3 years with the same group of children for the most part and now he spends the majority of his day with a new set of friends and the later part of his day with his old friends. He seems to be having a hard time dealing with the fact he has friends at school and friends at daycare. Luckily for me the daycare is doing an excellent job with helping me manage this minor situation. I owe alot to the daycare. They played a huge role in him learning how to walk, talk, potty and socialize. Now they have the duty of taking him to and from school 4 days a week, while I take him once a week. I hope to share the funny and not so funny times that Dakarion and I share.
We are about to get ready for school in the morning. I can't wait to see what our conversations tomorrow will bring!
Take care and I hope everyone who follows enjoys.
